Patch Notes

Cranix One · newest first

One person building this, so these are honest and occasionally rambly. Here's what's actually changed.

v1.4.5 — July 2026

The “make desktop and web the same thing” release.

  • Desktop finally matches the web app. Same left sidebar (the spine, with your dens and DMs), same floating panel, same everything. Desktop was stuck on the old layout for ages — now it's literally the same UI, just with a proper window bar on top.
  • New window bar up top on desktop — drag it around, minimise, maximise, close. The redesign ate the old one, so I built it back in properly.
  • Keyboard & screen-reader pass. You can drive the whole app from the keyboard now — message actions, the right-click menu, dialogs trap focus like they should, spoilers open with Enter, and the little presence dots actually announce themselves. Also stopped iOS zooming in every time you tapped a text box. Small stuff, but it was bugging me.
  • Big stability & security sweep. Not going to list every line — think calls that reconnect cleanly, invites that can't be over-used, sessions that actually get revoked when you log out, and message encryption that fails safe instead of silently. Boring to write, genuinely nice to have.
  • Report bugs from the website. There's a page for it now (it's in the nav). Goes straight to me.
  • Bumped the version everywhere so the app and the server finally agree on what number we're on. Petty, but it was annoying me.

v1.4.0 — The big redesign

Rebuilt the entire shell from scratch, and it was worth every late night.

  • Moved to a left spine for dens and DMs, a floating panel for whatever you're looking at, and a slide-over member list. Cleaner, faster, way less clutter.
  • Somewhere across the beta this thing properly grew up: threads, saved messages, polls, scheduled messages, GIFs, a soundboard, stage channels, screen share and camera in calls, keyword highlights, a notification inbox, quiet hours, den insights, webhooks… honestly loads.
  • End-to-end encryption for DMs — made it opportunistic so switching it on never gets in the way of just chatting.

The beta so far

Cranix One's been in closed beta while I hammer on it — voice, video, dens, DMs, moderation tools, and the shared account system through Cranix Core, all coming together piece by piece. Thanks for testing, and for putting up with the rough edges. More soon.
